David Alan Baum was born in Austin, TX on April 12, 1980. His family moved to California and then relocated to the Washington DC area when he was 8. He attended Centreville High School and graduated with Michelle in 1998. He later graduated from George Mason University in December 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. He is currently employed as a Marketing/Production Assistant for IO Energy in Arlington, VA. In 1999 David adopted a black lab mixed puppy which he named Foxy due to her "foxy" personality.
We met in Spanish class Junior year of high school. David transferred into my class a week late and asked Señora Porter to change the seating arrangements to allow him to sit next to me. After many months of stealing my puntos (class participation points) and being his Spade's partner, David asked me to go with him to Junior Prom. I was not interested in dating or attending the school dance and turned down David's offer. David, being the persistent man that he is, asked me out again. This time I accepted, but never received the promised phone call.
Two years later, when our best friends started dating, we became good friends. After a couple years of getting to know each other, we took the plunge and started dating. David relocated back to Northern Virginia to attend George Mason, and we've been together ever since.
Although we picked out the engagement ring together, David waited until it was right to ask me to marry him. On September 27, 2002 David took me to a romantic Italian dinner in Tyson's Corner, which he followed up with a trip downtown. He proposed at the Jefferson Memorial overlooking the Tidal Basin. I replied "absolutely" and of course cried my eyes out.
